at the same time the act of creating excellence is so soulcrushingly difficult, nobody can do it for long even if it did not attracts so much unwanted attention. when you dare to be creative as a person, rest assured a wave of negative attention is heading your way. the same way gravity gnaws at you all day, when you step into the arena and dare to manifest then this constant unwanted attention is trying to drag you down. like a subscription to constant misfortune. i believe this is constant misfortune datacenters are playing a big role in. computer running at high speed trying to find ways to make you even sadder.

i can only see as far as my limited perception but to me it seems culture is fighting an automatic war against quality so that low-quality can exist.

Consumer goods have been going downhill since at least the early 1990s. The Eastern bloc was what was keeping the race to the bottom in check.

Phoneposting but a lot of it is, no shit, eco regulations. The energy efficiency shit means shitty motors with shitty gears that are prone to breaking. The rules against certain soldering irons in smaller electronics means they break faster. The XBOX 360 had a red ring of death in part due to these rule changes.

Good washing machines are literally illegal to buy due to eco saving regulations in my country. You have to be a commercial business to import a specialized one with a proper motor, and it costs like $3,000.

efficiency sometimes has it's own side-effects. a city as square as a cpu with all roads being perfect 90° angle rectangles might make transportation more efficient but it also crushes the soul.

when i play sim city and my city is efficient, that's like a disgrace to me, perfectly good waste of a city. when i notice i buildall squre then i feel like a failure.

What is good and shitty is also a relative term. Good phone to a nerd is a sturdy machine that would also allow him to install linux terminal. Good phone to a normie is mostly something that would allow him to quickly take a selfie and upload it to instagram.

Products are not made to be "good" but to maximize profit.

1. SKIMPflation - they ruin nice things to avoid rising the price tag over, well, INFLATION

2. Once aspiring company becomes a corporation, it just cannot run on the pure enthusiasm. It has the problems of being huge now.

3. Over-saturating the market with good cars that are easy to fix kills the carmaker in the long run: you will sell less cars if your cars are too good to break.

4. People are too lazy these days to look for "niche" stuff OR people just can't properly request corporations to make a small niche add-on for their "vanilla" app. Instead, corporations roll-out more and more features turning their original app - handy, quick, useful like a kitchen knife - into some Big Effing Sword of apps

some insanely rich people just want to own companies that have earned reputation so they buy them and just make the product worse and more expensive for as long as it takes for people to notice.
