I think the main features that differentiate it from something like schizoid, is that you're asocial because you don't understand social cues or you get overwhelmed by stimuli and can't focus. If you get away from social situations thinking like wtf just happened, people reacted to you in surprising ways but you don't really understand why etc. You tried your best to make friends but it seems no reciprocated like you expected. Or if you go to socialize, but you can't look people in the eyes or the noise is distracting and you can't handle the stimulation.

Another thing for autism is having an obsessive interest or hobby. An activity that you always return to and it seems to calm you down and you enjoy doing it despite it being very repetitive with no purpose or external rewards. Every autist tends to have their own thing. If you're lucky, it might be programming or numbers related so you can get a decent paid job, but often it's gay shit like collecting yugioh cards or sonic and pikachu like Chris-chan.

Schizoids on the other hand don't have trouble understanding social cues and can even be socially successful if they put up a persona, but they can't handle intimacy and closeness so they always keep people at a distance and they get overwhelmed if people ask too much of them emotionally. They also get very little or no enjoyment out of socializing, they can do it mechanically and go through the motions but it is at best boring or anxiety inducing and draining, so they prefer to be alone. Schizoids tend to cope through fantasy and live in their own heads. They tend to have the worst outcomes in life because they aren't driven by the same motivations as other people and often tend to live a simple life.

These labels don't matter too much. It's also entirely possible to have both autism and to be a schizoid.

You might have other issues as well, the cutting seems to point that way. The thing is that men who suffer from serious mental stuff are often complete loners and therefore undersocialized. Just because youre undersocialized or a loner doesn't necessarily mean you're autistic, it's just a typical byproduct of being a man with certain issues. If you're not an assertive psycho or an edgy BPD goth xanax boi you're not interesting to others and youre gonna be a complete loner. If you're a schizo you might as well choose to be alone but you'd still lack social experiences and growth.

There's a chance that you won't get diagnosed with autism unless the female doctor is incompetent which is often the case. Theres many cases where guys go through professional irl autism tests and it turns out that they are just socially underdeveloped from being alone all the time which is often a thing they can hardly change as well though.

There's definitely some more mental/neurological stuff that can throw you off track socially.

Im not disabled, i have a degree, i can hold a job to some extent. Im able to communicate. My life is in the normal range of quality of life. Its near the bottom of that range sure but its in the range nonetheless.

Guys, I've never asked to go to a psychiatrist in the first place. Im a wagie who needed some days off cause I was near burnout so I cut and went to my GP who sent me to psych.

I didn't expect anything from it since I have a (sub)normal life. I just expected her to give me SSRI or whatever.

But she told me about sperg and now I have doubts.

Self-diagnosis is for pussies, having a professional put it on the table is something else.
