I do this experiment once every couple of years because I always meet a new never-vegan who sees me as small minded for limiting my food intake. The inverse is of course the truth (ive tried several types of legumes that 99% of the population has never heard of) so I challenge them to swap diets with me. After my first meal im always violently ill. The carnivore who tries my diet always reports back that they have felt as healthy as they ever have for the time they try veganism.
Im doing this experiment with my dad. I cooked him a bunch of oats because he wasnt used to being full without the feeling of nausea. He keeps talking about how healthy his movements are, and how well hes been sleeping, and how much energy he has at work. Meanwhile I have been getting violently ill from having to suddenly get used to eating small amounts of poop and pee that most carnivores simply tolerate.
I can never go more than a week of eating the low quality meat that most people suffer through because i refuse to catch a fever for people who inevitably return to their sub-par diets simply because they prefer the taste of some meats enough to tolerate the lethargy.

I'm vegetarian but not vegan because to me it's a deontological issue rather than a utilitarian one. I also don't believe in some of the core tenants of veganism, like the idea that animals have a "personhood" or are somehow on par with human beings and that making use of them in any way whatsoever is violating their rights. I do not believe that when a chicken lays an egg, I'm violating it's rights by frying it. There's also a political slant to it. I've seen people say that you can't be vegan and also racist and things like that. There's very much an overlap with veganism and "wokeism", etc.

Vegan here
Vegans and veganism is ultimately a personal choice, but ive met very few people who go back once they've become accustomed to the routine and lifestyle of veganism. That isn't to say that veganism is hard to root yourself out of once youre in (as far as being in America goes) because its very difficult to avoid meat and dairy and eggs especially if you have a social life. I feel very strongly- and this is from my own personal experience and my observation of others- that once your gut gets used to a higher nut, fruit, grain, and vegetable diet that that is the way were supposed to eat.
A body can and will develop a tolerance to meat and dairy, but youre not optimizing your life. Once youre used to experiencing deep restful sleep and alertness and wakefulness throughout the day, willingly choosing the alternative is almost an impossible choice to make.

Heck in all of america if youre raised on food stamps, the viable nutrition sources you can afford based off your stipend are never vegan. I remember talking to my parents about wanting to cut out meat (not even eggs or dairy at that point) at a very young age, and was told "if you dont like what i feed you, then you can go hungry." So for me, it was overcooked porkchops for dinner or a hungry stomach as a child.

The branched-chain volatile acids, isovaleric acid and 2-methylbutyric acid, stem from the metabolism of these two amino acids, respectively. East Asians and African-Americans experience higher levels of lactose intolerance than do Caucasians (ProCon.org 2010); hence we speculate that increased intake of dairy products by individuals of Caucasian descent results in increased levels of the branched chain amino acids in these individuals. There has been considerable speculation concerning the influence, if any, of diet on axillary odor, but little to no experimental data exists to date. However, Havlicek and Lenochova (2006) have shown that red meat consumption increases the negative hedonics of axillary odors (e.g., less attractive, more intense and unpleasant)."Stinky.

>>230824>What's wrong with mushrooms?1.)they're almost animals (closer to animals then to plants)
2.)i don't know about all mushrooms but the obvious ones being eaten are the dicks of these gigantic underground network species that come out of the ground (or out of the wood they are cultivated on) to relese spores (ejaculate).
so they are animal penises basically
3.)this is about what happens in the cells. fungus is already everywhere and your body tries to get it out. to your body it is a similar pest problem as parasites are. it is difficult enough to hold the conditions in which they can not spread througout you. your body painstakingly tries to hold a certain ph to keep all this shit dormant and when it fails to keep the ph, this stuff is not going to invade you, it is already in you and it just wakes up and start eating you the second the ph changes enough to unfreeze them. you shoveling more fungus inside you adds to that problem. well some people enjoy being at war and i guess this includes the war they fight inside their own body against hungry critters and fungi who are ready to eat them. imagine thinking you are an apex predator killing weaker animals and eating them, arrogantly asserting that nature is brutal and the strong shall rule the weak, while internally being ruled by fungi and bugs; unbeknownst to the apex predator that is.
4.)this is about digestion. when you are in emergency mode though (and your body is) your relationship with the fungus is even more complicated then that. you are likely to have a sort-off symbiosis with fungi in the lower long windy parts of your digestive tube. imagine green mouldy little pockets of fungi that help digest starches and grains for you and your body does want them out but also they do help make nutrients available to you that you otherwise could barely absorb so your body kind of wants them to stay. they do reduce the absorption surface though because the walls of the food tube need to be empty and not blocked by fungus. if the stommach-contents can't come close enough to the cells doing the absorption, their straws can not reach the smoothie and they can not slurp it.

i had a mushroom growth inside me a few years ago briefly. i was sleeping under a blanket wearing thin cotton pants and that was too hot and i didn't mind not yet knowing the danger. it was very hot and i would sweat and i wouldn't care. what i did was create the ideal conditions for mushrooms to grow and one the back of my knee, this itchy red circle would appear and i felt the moment it sproutet in me. fucking mushroom took my knee over! but no worries, i detoxed to the best of my ability, exercised, make sure to have better climate around my knee and it went away and never came back.
i cant make sense of the process entierly but what i have pieced together and in good-faith believe to be true is when you eat mushrooms you get 'mushroom building blocks' inside you and those can grow on you and start to multiply if conditions are sufficiently bad. if you were healthy eating a mushroom once in a while won't cause damage to you. you'd have systems that quickly deal with all intrusion and limit any damage that can be caused and if damage happens, it can quickly be repaired. but since you aren't healthy, it would be in your best interest to stay away. but since you don't act in your own bad interest nothing even matters to you anyways.
you arguing for the eating of mushrooms is not unlike arguing that ticks are part of nature too and deserve your blood, stop being anti-tick.

I heard that a lot of the people who invested in that technology ended up completely unable to produce most of the crops they were attempting to grow, and then the companies that sold the technology would blame the growers by claiming they didnt do one or two things perfectly the way they were supposed to basically avoiding liability.
Also, a big problem with fruits and vegetables as far as im aware isn't the gmos, but the fact that they have to haul bees across the country and dump them in areas where pesticides are used carelessly.
You know that an apple orchard in Oregon will need bees to fertilize their trees, so the company that grows those apple will ship in hundreds of thousands of bees. If the pecan farmer nearby is spraying his plants with insecticides and pesticides or harmful fertilizers, theres nothing that can be done to keep the bees on the apple orchard. Eventually they check out the neighboring pecan farm and get obliterated.

>>230853Chili isn't native to Vietnam, so no such thing as "wild chili". It was brought from the Americas a few centuries ago.

>>230860i assumed they were native just because they are wild. i guess someone imported them, planted them in the mountains and they have successfully adapted to the climate and are now able to reproduce themselves and spread a bit.

>>230859i've seen videos of rice farmers sending armies of ducks on their fields to eat anything but the rice in japan, maybe they could find an animal that keeps the insects off the fruit trees like frogs or anteaters.
i have not looked into vertical farming yet but what i thought was interesting is the farmbot. similar to a 3d printer but it is just a little cnc grabbing-arm and watering system that automatically places seeds in a small area of soil, waters them just right and squishes weeds.

>>230867The automation of agricultural processes lately has had such a tremendously positive effect on the world. Obvious reasons aside (food increasing while greenhouse gas emissions decreasing) if you've ever been in a plane and flown over Midwestern america, you would have seen these circular pattern in giant fields. This is the new norm, because farmers find that its cheaper to work less land thereby decreasing crop yield and just spinning a big arm around in a big circle that plants, fertilizer, waters, and harvests all your crops. The alternative is driving a tractor up and down your land back and forth.
The edges in the corner can be used for game hunting, shooting, and whatever the hell else the farmers want to do. A lot of people are letting the areas grow wild and some native species have recovered in rural areas that had been driven away by big ag.
Say what you will about automation, but i cant think of one time when growing food easier has ever had a negative consequence. Even AI can detect disease in plants quicker than farmers can 99% of the time or something ridiculous like that.

>>230871i have not seen this before, this is fascinating. this seems like the logical next step from the little cnc frambot that can only reasonably service an aread the size of one or a few matresses.
hopefully this is (or soon will be) picked up by open source so that this tech isn't gatekept by the disgusting technocratic warlords. if only these circles could now be moved closer to the place where people actually eat the food and not be owned by some asshole who wants to be rich instead of feeding his fellow men…
if i could own a few smaller arms like that i would grow the bulk of my food myself except stuff like nori seaweed. i'd want an earthship to live in and a few of those circles around me for cucumber, bell pepper, grapes. banana i could grow in the earthship's greenhouse.
>Say what you will about automationi doubt many people object to automation, what people object to is the surveilance and central system of ownership through investors, stock markets, debt and other financial instruments. passive income requires the continued denial of the natural human desire to own the means of production. ownership to be outsourced to a minitory of authoritarian psychopaths isn't it.
